My name is Kálmán Koczor, owner of the Koczor Winery. I could say founder too, but that would only be true in a legal sense, as the family’s history with wine and grapes doesn’t begin with me. The real founders are those ancestors of mine, who planted the very first vines on Derékhegy in Pécsely, less than 10km from Balatonfüred, nearly 200 years ago. My family and I are merely carrying on their work, their calling and hopefully complementing it as well. In the past fifteen years we have sought to enhance this fine vocation by cultivating ever newer vineyards, building and extending our cellar and producing more and more delicious wines.
As a vineyard owner I feel that my family and I are part of a special heritage, the preservation and augmentation of which are our most important tasks. This means nurturing our own, familial winemaking history - as well as establishing new traditions - and all those cultural and natural treasures, which exist both in this wine region and throughout the country.
Our aim is to produce the best wine available year in, year out. A wine enriched by six generations of experience, the enchanting atmosphere of the Balaton highlands is kindled in its colours and flavours, whilst all the good intentions, humour and strength invested in its birth melt into its bouquet. We would like to present you and everyone who comes to our cellar or our home and tries our wine, with an experience that is at once new and familiar, with ancient roots.
